This was an opportunity in an area of the school that I had previously pushed for, however previously had found no teacher to support my escapades in running a school UAV/RPAS/UAS and model flying club.
However, when a new teacher decided to adopt the notion of a ‘drone club’, I stepped up to run the main portion of the club by leveraging my prior experience and knowledge to support PNBHS Drone Club fliers. Through the PNBHS drone club, I have used and continue to use prior understanding and teaching of aviation law in order to support those interested in understanding their aircraft, logging semi-professional flight hours and doing so in a safe and legal manor, with specific mention to multi-rotors, although there has also been some development in rocket launches.
I also endeavor to highlight and educate potential pilots on the importance of understanding their legal standing and operating under it at all times, which is an essential part of being a pilot in New Zealand airspace and keeping everyone safe!
